Grant Doyle - Opera and Classical singing teacher

Welcome to Grant Doyle Vocal Studio. Alongside my performance career, I teach one-on-one opera and classical singing lessons in my garden studio in Eltham, London.

My professional career now spans 35 years, and I have appeared in 94 different roles in 140 productions around the UK, Europe and Australia. I have also performed hundreds of oratorio and recital concerts (including over 40 appearances as a soloist at the Royal Albert Hall).

Working with some of the finest teachers and coaches in the world, I have studied bel canto technique, languages, musicianship, acting, movement and stagecraft as well as performing alongside the greatest opera stars alive, and worked under celebrated conductors and directors.

My career as a baritone has given me insight into what it takes to be a complete opera and classical singer. Learning to sing is much more than making sounds to words.

Here are some of the many facets that I help my students with:

Testimonials

“Working with Grant over the past 3 years has been fantastic. He has gone above and beyond to help me in my operatic training by not only teaching vocal technique but also assisting and coaching me in languages, theory and acting skills. Through these lessons I was able to study singing intensively to the point where I was able to get onto an MA Music degree having not studied music previously. His passion for music is contagious and his depth of knowledge is incredible. I would highly recommend working with Grant.”

BG, Soprano, Mill Hill.

“I have been a singing pupil of Grant for over 7 years. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He has a vast knowledge of the subject of classical singing and combines a friendly and flexible manner with a rigorous approach to technique which is always inspiring. He is also generous with his time and the fact that he is a working international professional opera singer provides a holistic learning framework that magnifies the value of every lesson.”

NG, Baritone, Teddington.

Music Theory Lessons

For those who are interested, I can supplement your training with music theory and keyboard musicianship. I can also provide backing guides and accompaniment tracks for those who are starting out, or have no instrumental training.

I have knowledge of sound recording techniques, music and video production, and offer students the use of my studio facilites to make demo recordings and promotional videos.

Music Theatre, Pop, Rock and Jazz Singing Lessons

I first started singing as a guitarist and lead singer in bands. From this I began singing music theatre and jazz standards before moving into classical music. I welcome and encourage students who would like to work with me on their voice in those genres, or would like to broaden their repertoire.

You may book singing lessons as often as you like. Once a month, fortnightly or weekly. For children, once a week is best, many adults find once a fortnight is convenient.

You can have 30, 60 or even 90 minute lessons.
